Lima. November 2-5 I participated in the Annual Conference for CEPABIP. I went with my two sons, Noé Isaí (Noah Isaiah) and Segundo Andrés (Segundo Andrew).

I decided that I would go with them last year and I am happy that God made the journey possible. I wanted my sons to be able to experience this type of spiritual retreat because it is very beneficial to their spiritual growth. My sons and I listened together to the Word of God and we were challenged by it. I give glory to God for His great blessing!

In the CEPABIP conferences we seek to instruct, encourage, challenge and strengthen the pastors in their spiritual, marriage, family, ministry, and theological lives. In order to meet these objectives, we seek preachers that are able to help us. This year the invited preachers were: Luis Carballosa, Bob Evans, and Moisés Zumaeta.

Dr. Carballosa presented to us classes about expository interpretation of the Bible. Missionary Bob Evans encouraged us by speaking to us about how the church can involve itself to a greater extent in missionary work. Moisés Zumaeta warned us not to fall into errors in Bible interpretation. The 3 speakers were a great blessing for all of us who attended.

We held the conferences at the BCM (Bible Centered Ministries) Camp in Lima. The buildings were comfortable and the friendliness and service of the BCM staff was wonderful. It was a blessing to share this time with the missionaries and students of this mission. May God bless our brothers of BCM. You can see some photos of the week in my Flickr album:

Requena. As is my custom for the past 8 years, I went to Requena to preach and teach God’s Word. God has given me this ministry with various pastors, leaders, and churches in this city.

Thanks to the support of the Mission Alas del Rey (Wings of the King) I was able to go to Requena. They support the work of preparing servants in Requena with their prayers and offerings. (In the photo, Bethesda Baptist Church praises Jesus Christ in their service.)

In Requena we have a training center that we call ABCDE Requena. ABCDE (in Spanish) stands for: Christian Bible Learning for Discipleship and Evangelism. Missionary Steve Ross started the center; he is now in the presence of our Savior.

ABCDE Requena trains pastors, missionaries, and leaders of various churches in the city and surrounding area. The need for training is urgent in this area of Peru and we are very thankful to Alas del Rey (Wings of the King) for their support in the training that we do there. (In the photo are various students of ABCDE Requena. Their interest in learning the Word of God is admirable.)

This time I went to teach Spiritual Life. I also taught two workshops: “What the church should do with a believer that sins” and “`Biblical truths about marriage and sexual relationships.” I enjoyed and learned with the other believers while I was teaching these Biblical themes.

I went alone. My traveling companion, Elias Huamán, stayed in Iquitos. There he also taught Spiritual Life to the believers of Maranatha Baptist Church. In Iquitos they are studying the same Biblical courses that we teach in Requena. He had between 18 and 20 students each day. In my class in Requena I had 17 students, 14 men and 3 ladies.

During this trip I had the privilege to give to 2 students their certificate of completion of studies. The 2 students are Jairo and Damasio. Both have strived and have studied with me and other professors for the past 3 1/2 years.

These two studies had finished studying the 10 basic courses. They are: Bible Interpretation, Old Testament Survey, New Testament Survey, Preaching and Pastoral Ministry, Bible Doctrine, Spiritual Life, Church Administration, Teaching Methods, Church History, and Missions, Evangelism, and Discipleship.

The materials that we use in these courses are from the Training Center for Pastors and Leaders. (In the photo, Manuel Guevera, president of ABCDE Requena, is giving his certificate of completion of studies to Jairo, a faithful student for many years.)

As well, during this trip God gave me the blessing to baptize two believers. I baptized Ruth, a 20-year-old young lady. In spite of an illness that keeps her from walking she is very available to serve Jesus and do His will. The other believer I baptized is Rafael and is part of Faith Baptist Church in Requena. God encouraged me with the testimonies of Ruth and Rafael. May God greatly bless and guard them faithfully in their Christian walk!

God willing, there is a 17-year-old teen, named Yamir, who wants to study in the Baptist Seminary of Peru in Trujillo. His parents are in favor of this decision. If there is no problem, it is very possible that he will come in March 2016 to start his training to serve God. For some time I have wanted to see that the young people of Requena dedicate themselves to the ministry. If this young man does that, I will be very joyful.

God has blessed me much in my travels to the jungle. If He permits me, I will keep going to help my brothers in Christ from this area. (In the photo I am with Rafael and Ruth after I baptized them.)

At times I get tired of going as far away as Requena, but when I see the needs there and the sacrifices that several students make to come to my classes, I am motivated and say with conviction: “I will go again.” And certainly, I will keep going to Requena until God shows me that I should not continue. Como ya es costumbre desde hace 8 años atrás, fui a Requena, para predicar y enseñar la palabra de Dios. Dios me ha dado este ministerio con algunos de los pastores, de los líderes y las iglesias en esa ciudad.

Voy a Requena gracias al apoyo de la misión Alas del Rey. Son ellos los que sostienen con sus oraciones y ofrendas el trabajo de preparación de siervos que realizamos en la ciudad de Requena. (En la foto, la IB Betesda alaba al Señor Jesucristo en un servicio dominical).

En Requena tenemos un centro de entrenamiento que denominamos ABCDE Requena. El significado de las siglas es el siguiente: Aprendizaje Bíblico Cristianos para el Discipulado y el Evangelismo. El centro fue iniciado por el misionero Steve Ross, quien ya está en la presencia del Señor.

ABCDE Requena entrena a los pastores, misioneros y líderes de varias de la iglesias que hay en la ciudad y alrededores. La necesidad de entrenamiento y capacitación es imperiosa en esa parte de Perú y estoy muy agradecido a Alas del Rey por apoyar el trabajo de entrenamiento que hacemos allí. (En la foto, varios de los alumnos de ABCDE Requena, su interés por aprender la palabra de Dios es admirable).

Esta vez, fui para enseñar Vida Espiritual y para dictar dos charlas: Qué debe hacer la iglesia con el creyente que peca y Verdades bíblicas sobre el matrimonio y las relaciones sexuales. Disfruté y aprendí junto a mis hermanos mientras enseñé estos temas bíblicos.

Fui solo. Mi compañero de viaje, el pastor Elías Huamán, se quedó en Iquitos. Allí, él enseñó también Vida Espiritual, pero a los hermanos de la IB Maranata, quienes también están estudiando los mismos cursos bíblicos que enseñamos en Requena. En mi clase de Vida Espiritual en Requena tuve 17 alumnos. 14 varones y 3 mujeres.

En este viaje tuve el privilegio de entregarle su certificado de culminación de estudios a dos estudiantes. Los dos estudiantes son Jairo y Damasio. Ambos se han esforzado y estudiado conmigo y otros profesores durante tres años y medio.

Estos dos alumnos han terminado de estudiar los diez cursos básicos, que son: Interpretación de la Biblia, Síntesis del Antiguo Testamento, Síntesis del Nuevo Testamento, Cómo predicar y ministerio pastoral, Doctrina Bíblica, Vida Espiritual, Administración Eclesiástica, Métodos de Enseñanza, Historia de la iglesia, y Misiones y Evangelismo y Discipulado.

Los materiales que usamos en estos cursos son propiedad del Centro de Capacitación para Pastores y Líderes. (En la foto, Manuel Guevara, presidente de ABCDE Requena le está haciendo entrega de su certificado de culminación de cursos a Jairo, quien ha sido un fiel alumno por ya varios años).

También, en este viaje Dios me dio la bendición de bautizar a dos hermanos. Bauticé a Rut, quien es una jovencita de 20 años, quien a pesar de padecer una enfermedad que le impide caminar, está muy dispuesta de servir a Jesús y hacer su voluntad.

El otro hermano a quien bauticé se llama Rafael y es parte de la IB La Fe de Requena. Dios me ánimo con el testimonio de Ruy y de Rafael. ¡Dios los bendiga a ambos y los guarde fieles en el camino de Cristo!

Dios me ha bendecido mucho en mis viajes a la selva. Si él así lo dispone, seguiré yendo a ayudar a mis hermanos de esa zona. (En la foto estoy con Rafael y Rut después que los bauticé).

A veces me canso de ir hasta Requena, pero cuando veo la necesidad que hay allí y el sacrificio que varios de los alumnos hacen para llegar a las clases, me motivo y digo con firmeza: Volveré. Y ciertamente, seguiré yendo a Requena hasta que Dios me muestre que ya no debo ir más.

En Noviembre, del 2 al 5, participé del Congreso CEPABIP, fui con mis dos hijos varones, Noé Isaí y Segundo Andrés. Decidí que iría con ellos desde el año pasado y estoy contento de que Dios hizo posible este viaje. Quería que mis hijos experimenten este tipo de retiros espirituales porque son muy provechosos para el crecimiento espiritual. Mis hijos y yo escuchamos juntos la palabra de Dios y fuimos desafiados por ella. ¡Gloria a Dios por su gran bendición!

En los congresos de CEPABIP, lo que buscamos es que los pastores sean instruidos, animados, desafiados y fortalecidos en su vida espiritual personal, en su vida conyugal y familiar, en su vida ministerial y en su vida teológica. Para lograr nuestros objetivos, buscamos expositores que estén aptos para ayudarnos. En esta ocasión, los expositores invitados que nos ayudaron los siguientes siervos de Dios: Luis Carballosa, Bob Evans y Moisés Zumaeta.

El doctor Carballosa nos dio clases sobre interpretación expositiva. El misionero Bob Evans nos edificó hablándonos sobre cómo la iglesia puede involucrarse mucho más en la obra misionera. Moisés Zumaeta nos alertó para que no caigamos en errores al interpretar las escrituras. Los tres fueron de gran bendición para todos los que asistimos.

Realizamos en congreso en el Campamento BCM. Las instalaciones fueron suficientemente cómodas y la amabilidad y el servicio del personal de BCM fueron muy fraternales. Fue muy grato compartir con los misioneros y estudiantes de este ministerio. Dios bendiga a los hermanos de BCM.

Dios mediante el congreso CEPABIP 2016 se realizará en Urubamba, Cusco.

And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.”
God has given me the privilege to serve Him as a Bible teacher and has placed me in charge of Public Relations in the Baptist Seminary of Peru. In the Seminary we prepare workers to serve in God’s work. We have been doing this since 1972, and this past month of October we celebrated our 44th anniversary. There were many diverse activities during this week. We had special meetings with Pastor Galo Mantalvo who came from Ambato, Ecuador. We had special activities like: the visit of prospective students, a night of special music, the anniversary banquet, and the alumni reunion. As well, during this anniversary week, we had our meetings with the General Assembly of the Seminary. This group is the Board of Trustees for the seminary, made of pastors from our supporting churches.
In all of these activities we could see the appreciation that the Baptist churches have for the seminary and the work we do here. We had a good attendance each night. The most notable nights as far as visitors were the nights of special music and the anniversary banquet. For the special music night, we had more than 500 people in attendance. For the banquet, more than 600. During the week we had 21 prospective students that came to visit. We are thankful to God for them. As well, we are praying to God that He will guide them and confirm their determination to serve Him and prepare themselves to be good workers in His work. If God allows, several of them will study in our seminary this next year.
Preaching in the chapel at the seminary
I ended the October preaching in the last 3 chapels for the month. I used the opportunity to communicate to the students of how they can enter the ministry.
Basically what I told them was: 1) Be assured of their calling and their desire to be in God’s work, 2) Associate with people who are already in God’s work, 3) Take advantage of the opportunities that are presented to them and enter God’s work, 4) Learn to live the preaching of the gospel and do God’s work. I based these admonitions on the testimonies of Moses and Joshua, Elijah and Elisha, Jesus and His disciples, and Paul and Timothy and Titus. I trust that the students will follow these admonitions and enter God’s work.
Specifically, it is my desire that everyone who comes to study in our seminary would work in God’s work. I think that there are already many who can work in a secular activity, but there are not many who want to serve in God’s work. Our Lord said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few.” (Matthew 9:37).
During October I have spent most of my time ministering in Trujillo. I only had one brief journey to Lima to minister in New Life Biblical Baptist Church. I was there 2 day, Saturday and Sunday, October 24 and 25. I am thankful to God for using me in His work. I also give thanks to you for your appreciation and friendship.

Dios me ha dado el privilegio de servirle como maestro de cursos bíblicos y encargado del área de Relaciones Públicas en el Seminario Bautista del Perú.

En el seminario preparamos obreros para la obra de Dios. Estamos haciendo este trabajo desde el año 1972 y en este mes de Octubre, que acaba de transcurrir, celebramos nuestro aniversario número 44.

Cantar este himno siempre es muy emocionante. Los que cantamos nos estremecemos entonando este hermoso himno. Gracias damos a Dios por los que compusieron el himno.

Las actividades por nuestro aniversario fueron diversas. Tuvimos conferencias especiales a cargo del pastor Galo Montalvo, quien vino desde Ambato, Ecuador. Realizamos la Semana del Aspirante, la noche de alabanza, la cena de gala y el reencuentro de ex alumnos. También, durante nuestra semana de aniversario, sesionó la Asamblea General del Seminario. Este cuerpo es el Órgano Administrativo de nuestra institución.

En todas estas actividades pudimos ver el aprecio que los hermanos de la iglesias bautistas le tienen al seminario y al ministerio que realizamos. Tuvimos una buena asistencia cada noche. Las noches más sobresalientes en visitantes fueron la noche de alabanza y la cena de gala. En la primera, pasamos de 500 personas y, en la segunda, de 600.

Durante la semana tuvimos 21 aspirantes a estudiar con nosotros. Estamos agradecidos a Dios por ellos. También, estamos orando a Dios para que los guié y confirme su determinación de servir a Dios y de prepararse para ser buenos obreros en su obra. Si Dios así lo dispone, varios de ellos estudiarán en nuestra institución el siguiente año.

Finalicé el mes de Octubre predicando en las tres últimas capillas del mes. Aproveché mi oportunidad para comunicarle a los alumnos el cómo ellos pueden ingresar al ministerio.

Básicamente, lo que les dije fue lo siguiente: 1). Certifiquen su vocación, su deseo, su anhelo de estar en la obra de Dios, 2) Asóciense con personas que ya están en la obra de Dios, 3) Aprovechen las oportunidades que se les presenten y entren a la obra de Dios, y 4) Aprendan a vivir de la predicación del evangelio y de hacer la obra de Dios. Basé estos consejos en los testimonios de Moisés y Josué, Elías y Eliseo, Jesús y sus discípulos, y Pablo y Timoteo y Tito.

Confío en que los alumnos seguirán los consejos e ingresarán a la obra de Dios. Particularmente, quiero, es mi anhelo, que todo aquel que estudia en nuestro seminario, trabaje en la obra de Dios. Pienso que en todas las actividades humanas ya hay muchos para trabajar en ellas, pero en la obra de Dios no hay tantos que quieran trabajar. Nuestro Señor lo dijo así a sus discípulos: “A la verdad la mies es mucha, mas los obreros pocos” (Mateo 9:37).

El mes de Octubre he estado ministrando mayormente en Trujillo. Solamente tuve un breve viaje a Lima para ministrar en la Iglesia Bíblica Bautista Nueva Vida. Estuve solo dos días, el sábado 24 y el domingo 25. Estoy agradecido a Dios por usarme en su obra. Gracias también a ustedes por su aprecio y amistad.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
It is always a joy to write to you and tell you what God allows me to do in His work. This month, in addition to my normal ministry activities as professor and Director of Public Relations at the Baptist Seminary of Peru, God has given me the privilege to serve Him in Pacaipampa and Sullana, in the northern province of Piura.

From September 2-6 I had the privilege to go to Pacaipampa (my first visit there) to teach and preach God’s Word. Normally, because I have school-aged children, I travel alone on my preaching trips. This time, however, I went with my wife. To have my wife with me on this ministry trip was a great blessing. Her presence and company were encouraging.

I was asked to teach the teens during the day. I spoke with them about how to establish a home on the principles of God’s Word. Teaching on this theme is key in this area of the country because the majority of the people begin their adult life by running away from home. There are many unmarried couples in the region.

Even more, the girls begin life as “mother” and “wife” while they are still young. Of course, this is the responsibility of the men, who do not give their young girls the necessary years to develop. During my class I tried to inform both the teenage girls and teenage boys of the need to begin one’s sexual life after marriage.

In the evenings I preached the gospel and there were 5 professions of faith. Also, there were various believers who reconciled with God during the preaching services.

My wife, along with another pastor’s wife, taught the ladies. They had a large number of ladies in their classes.

Pastor Enoc Principe and several other pastors and believers from Piura, Sullana and Paita traveled with us to Pacaipampa. Pastor Enoc taught the pastors, church leaders, and men who came to the conference.

I do not know how many people came to the conference. I do know that there were many people who attended. Perhaps there were more than 600 people in attendance. They tell me that there were more than 24 Baptist churches represented at the conference. There were so many believers that we had to have the evening service outside each night! Also, it took us 3 hours to serve and eat the meals together. From September 21-27 I was at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Sullana. I went there with Denis, a believer who works with the finances at the Seminary in Trujillo.

Our trip was made possible by the invitation of Pastor David Córdoba, who asked that we would come to his church to represent the Seminary and to teach God’s Word.

In the mornings during the week we visited the believers at home to encourage them and to pray with them. In the afternoons we evangelized door-to-door. Tuesday and Wednesday evenings we preached the gospel in two public areas near the church. From Thursday to Sunday we had preaching services in the church. Our preaching ministry in the church services was focused on the teens, the married couples, and the congregation in general.

During this week I was privileged to witness 3 professions of faith. The first was from a lady who is more than 50 years old; she came from Tumbes to Sullana to visit family and returned to her home with the gospel of Christ. The second was from a teen girl who is 16 years old; I explained the gospel to her and she decided to repent of her sins. These two professions of faith happened when we were evangelizing house-to-house. The third was from a man who is more than 60 years old and visited the church during the evenings; he heard the gospel as it is applied to the married life and believed in Jesus. To finish my September note, I ask you to pray for the Baptist Seminary of Peru and the activities that we have in October. This is our anniversary month and we have many visitors coming. As well, I must preach about missions in Lima and I need your labor with me through prayer. Thank you, brothers and sisters, for reading and praying for the work of God in Peru!

“Porque esto es bueno y agradable delante de Dios nuestro Salvador, el cual quiere que todos los hombres sean salvos y vengan al conocimiento de la verdad” (1 Timoteo 2:4-5).

Del 21 al 27 de Setiembre estuve en la IB Ebenezer de Sullana. Fui con Denis, quien trabaja como tesorero en el Seminario Bautista del Perú. (Foto: Denis, mi compañero de viaje).

Nuestro viaje se hizo efectivo gracias a la invitación del pastor David Córdoba, quien pidió que fuésemos a su congregación en representación del Seminario, para ministrar la palabra de Dios.

El pastor David y la IB Ebenezer planearon muy bien el trabajo que realizaríamos entre ellos. Debo destacar que ellos no solamente planearon el trabajo, también trabajaron junto a nosotros. Nos acompañaron a visitar a los hermanos, a evangelizar casa por casa, a las predicaciones al aire libre y a las actividades que realizamos en el local de la congregación. También, su hospitalidad para con nosotros nos edificó mucho. Fueron varios los hermanos que abrieron sus casas para alimentarnos. Fuimos muy bien tratados y glorifico a Dios por el amor  y nos trataron muy bien.

Durante las mañanas, visitamos a los hermanos para animarles, para responder preguntas y para orar por ellos. Por las tardes, evangelizamos casa por casa en las cuadras cercanas al local de la iglesia y en las casas cercanas a los lugares en los que íbamos a predicar el evangelio al aire libre. Las noches del martes y del miércoles predicamos el evangelio al aire libre en dos lugares cercanos al local de la iglesia. Desde el jueves hasta el domingo predicamos la palabra de Dios en la iglesia. Nuestro ministerio en el local de la iglesia estuvo en enfocado en los jóvenes, en las parejas y en la congregación en general.

Dios nos permitió edificar y fortalecer la fe de nuestros hermanos por medio de estas actividades. También, Dios nos permitió sembrar el evangelio en el corazón de los que todavía no son creyentes y que visitaron nuestras reuniones y escucharon la palabra. Asimismo, Dios nos permitió tener al menos tres profesiones de fe. Fui testigo de estas profesiones de fe. (Foto: Reunión de parejas en el local de la IB Ebenezer. La primera profesión de fe fue el de una mujer adulta de más de 50 años; ella vino de Tumbes a Sullana para visitar su familia y volvió a su casa con el evangelio de Cristo. La segunda profesión de fe fue el de una jovencita de unos 16 años; le expliqué el evangelio y decoró convertirse a Jesús. Estas dos profesiones de fe ocurrieron cuando estábamos evangelizando casa por casa. La tercera profesión de fe fue el de un varón de más de 60 años que visitó la congregación por la noches; él escuchó el evangelio aplicado a la vida matrimonial durante y creyó en Jesús. !Glorifico a Dios por estas profesiones de fe!

Dios me ha dado ánimo en este viaje a Sullana y a la IB Ebenezer. El pastor David Córdoba y los hermanos de la iglesia han sido de gran bendición para nosotros. Todo lo que viví en viaje me hizo ver estas tres realidades claves: 1) Dios quiere y está obrando salvación en las personas, 2) Los discípulos que obedecen a Cristo y predican el evangelio son claves para que mucha más gente sea salva por medio de Jesucristo y 3) Todavía hay gente que oye el evangelio y que se hace seguidor de Jesucristo cuando se le predica que el murió y resucitó de los muertos para salvar a los pecadores. !Gloria a Dios por el aliento y el desafío que me dio en Sullana!

Por la gracia de Dios, tuve el privilegio de ir a Pacaipampa, en Piura, para enseñar y predicar la palabra de Dios. Normalmente, como tengo niños adolescentes, voy a predicar a otros lugares solo. Esta vez, sin embargo, fui con mi esposa.

Viajar con mi esposa a este viaje ministerial fue una gran bendición. Su presencia y compañía fueron muy estimulantes.

Para mí, fue mi primera vez en dicha ciudad (mi esposa visitó ese pueblo siendo niña). Yo había oído de la obra de Dios en Pacaipampa y alrededores, pero nunca había llegado por allí. Realmente, fue de mucho ánimo visitar y ser testigo ocular de lo que Dios está haciendo en esa parte de Perú.

Me tocó enseñar a los jóvenes durante el día. Hablé con ellos sobre cómo establecer su hogar bajo los principios de la palabra de Dios. Enseñar este tema es clave en la zona ya que la mayoría de gente inicia su hogar huyendo de su casa. Hay mucha convivencia. También, las mujeres empiezan un hogar siendo aún adolescentes. Desde luego, en esto hay responsabilidad de los hombres, que no dejan que las jóvenes se desarrollen. Durante mi clase intenté concientizar tanto a los jóvenes como a las señoritas que iniciasen su vida sexual cuando ya estuviesen casados.

Por las noches prediqué el evangelio y hubo 5 profesiones de fe. También hubieron varios hermanos que se reconciliaron con Dios durante las predicaciones.

Mi esposa, junto a la esposa de otro pastor, enseñó a las mujeres. Ellas tuvieron una muy buena cantidad de mujeres en su clase.

También viajó con nosotros el pastor Enoc Príncipe y otros pastores y hermanos de Piura, Sullana y Paita. El pastor Enoc enseñó a los pastores, líderes y hermanos varones que asistieron al congreso.

Yo no tengo la cuenta de cuántas personas se dieron cita a este congreso. Lo que sí puedo decir es que hubo mucha gente. Quizá, la cantidad de hermanos que asistió sobrepasó las 600 personas.

Me informaron que hubieron más de 24 iglesias bautistas representadas en este congreso. Hubieron tantos hermanos que el servicio nocturno tuvo que hacerse al aire libre. También, cada tiempo de comida demoró una 3 horas.

Pasé un lindo tiempo con la juventud y con los hermanos de las iglesias. Me edificó la hospitalidad y el servicio de los hermanos de la iglesia anfitriona. En especial, destaco a los hombres y mujeres que sirvieron en la cocina. Ellos tuvieron que estar trabajando más de 14 horas diarias para alimentar a tanta gente.

La obra de Dios en esa parte del Perú requiere de discipulación y de entrenamiento. Por eso, pido oración por los pastores de la zona y por la asociación de IBI de la Región Grau. Pidamos que Dios les ayude a trabajar juntos y a establecer un centro de discipulación y de entrenamiento en el área.

Aunque la obra evangélica en esa zona tiene ya más de 30 años, algo triste que noté aparte de la falta de entrenamiento y discipulación es esto: muchos de los niños solamente estudian hasta primaria y son muy pocos los que culminan su educación secundaría. Las razones son diversas: falta de profesores, la distancia de los colegios, falta de motivación en los niños, desinterés y descuido de los padres, y desatención y negligencia de las autoridades educativas.

De los 80 o 90 jóvenes que estuvieron en mi clase, menos del 10 % había culminado secundaría. Antes de predicar, animé a los oyentes a trabajar para revertir esa situación. Oremos a Dios para que esta situación cambie y para que la iglesia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo siga cumpliendo su misión y añadiendo muchas más personas al reino de Dios.

I traveled to Iquitos, Requena and Jenaro Herrera with Missionary Amaro Zapata, who serves God in Piura, in the IB Jesus the Good Shepherd. Pastor Amaro preached and taught in Iquitos and Requena. I preached and taught in Requena and Jenaro Herrera.

In Iquitos, Missionary Amaro Zapata taught Biblical Doctrine. In his class there were between 16 to 18 siblings. There were three pastors and three churches represented in his classes. In Jenaro Herrera, I taught and preached on the anniversary of the New Life Baptist Church, which is in charge of Pastor Isidoro Del Aguila, who is one of ABCDE Requena students. I taught biblical principles to have a good marriage. In the Sunday service, I preached the gospel of our Lord. In Jenaro Herrera, 6 new disciples were baptized. I’m happy, this church was abandoned and is returning to take heart. Pray for Pastor Isidoro, may God continue using him in this town. (Photo: I am with tree people that baptized).

In Requena, we taught two courses during the day: Biblical Doctrine and Interpreting Right the Bible. We had 14 and 20 students respectively.

At evenings, we had Bible conferences for people from churches. Attendance was good, but we want to reach more brothers and churches in the city.

In Requena, God gave us the opportunity to baptize a brother who was not baptized. He himself came up with the request after hearing that the disciples of Christ must be obedient.

Also, in Requena we have three students who have completed the 10 core courses at ABCDE Requena. God willing, we will deliver their certificate in November. (Photo: Amaro with the brother that baptized).

Requena ABCDE Directive continues to work well. They have a one hour radio program in which preach the gospel and teach the word of God. Bethesda Baptist Church is in a period of changes. In November they will call a new pastor. Pray for that, I’d like that one of the members of the board of Requena ABCDE be the pastor. May God’s will be done on this.

I would like to organize two camps in Requena on holiday season: one for children and one for youth and adolescents. It’s an idea for now. I am confident that we can do this at some point.

“Así que los que recibieron su palabra fueron bautizados; y se añadieron aquel día como tres mil personas. Y perseveraban en la doctrina de los apóstoles, en la comunión unos con otros, en el partimiento del pan y en las oraciones” (Hechos 2:41-42).

En Requena, el misionero Amaro Zapata y yo estuvimos en dos congregaciones: La IB Betesda y la IE Mover del Espíritu. En la primera, realizamos nuestros cursos de entrenamiento para los obreros de las iglesias y, en la segunda, realizamos conferencias bíblicas para toda la congregación.

El misionero Amaro Zapata enseñó Doctrina Bíblica a los estudiantes de nuestro centro de capacitación. Para este siervo de Dios, fue su primera vez en Requena y en Iquitos, donde también enseñó lo mismo. Para los alumnos, la experiencia con el misionero Amaro Zapata fue muy buena. Con él no solamente aprendieron y se introdujeron a la Doctrina Bíblica, sino también a la obra misionera.

Amaro Zapata ha empezado ya tres nuevas iglesias en todo su tiempo de misionero. Empezó una iglesia en Talara y dos iglesias en la ciudad de Piura. El misionero Amaro tuvo en total 15 estudiantes. Confío en que el testimonio de este misionero ha animado y desafiando a los estudiantes para que haga obra misionera.

Por las noches, el misionero Amaro Zapata les habló sobre cómo hacer la obra misionera a los hermanos de las iglesias que asistieron a la conferencia. Tuvimos una buena concurrencia. Hubieron tres iglesias representadas en la conferencia. Aunque estamos contentos, anhelamos crecer y tener a muchas más iglesias representadas en estas conferencias.

A mi me tocó enseñar el libro Trazando Bien la palabra de Dios. Este libro ha sido escrito por el misionero Roberto Watley. Él donó ese libro para que lo entreguemos a los pastores y líderes de la selva. Nosotros, que recibimos el libro, hemos también enseñado el libro para que los hermanos lo lean y lo comprendan mucho más.

En las conferencias nocturnas, hablé sobre las características básicas de los discípulos de Cristo. Para esto, examinamos las características de los discípulos que siguieron a Cristo luego de la predicación de Pedro en Hechos 2. De todas las características que expuse, quiero resalta una, el bautismo. La razón, bautizamos a un hermano y sabemos que son más los que van a bautizarse en breve.

Luego de terminar mi exposición, me sorprendí mucho cuando German, del pueblo de San José, que está a dos noches y un día en lancha desde Requena, se me acercó y me confesó que no estaba bautizado, y que quería bautizarse para obedecer a nuestro Señor Jesucristo y ser así su discípulos.

Él estaba decidido y es por eso que nos dispusimos a bautizarse de inmedianto. El misionero Amaro Zapata fue quien lo bautizó. Realizamos el bautizo en el río Tapiche. Nos animó sobremanera ser testigos oculares del bautismo de nuestro hermano Germán.

Estoy contento con la respuesta de los hermanos a la palabra de Dios. He sido informado de que en la IB Betesda de Requena hay 10 hermanos que van a bautizarse. Ellos se bautizarán el 6 de Setiembre. ¡Qué bendición tan grande! Dios mediante, seguiré yendo a Requena para instruir a los hermanos de las iglesias que estudian con nosotros. El próximo viaje se realizará en Noviembre.
