El pastor Latimer Rengifo, la Iglesia Bautista de Tahuantinsuyo y los hermanos de las iglesias bautistas independentes del Departamento de Amazonas me invitaron para predicar el evangelio de Jesucristo en la Convención de Iglesias de la zona. La fecha del acontemiento fue del 15 al 18 de Enero. Pasé un buen tiempo allí.

Prediqué allí estas verdades claves: la realidad del juicio de Dios ( Hebreos 9:27), los dos destinos del hombre ante el juicio de Dios (Juan 3:36), Jesucristo como la persona de quién depende nuestro destino ante el juicio de Dios (Juan 3:16-21) y la fe y el seguimiento a Jesucristo como la clave para ser salvo y tener vida eterna (Juan 3:16-21).

Hubo buenas respuestas a la predicación. Destaco en especial la de un padre de familia que se acercó a mi y que dijo: “He estado viviendo mal con Dios, pero hoy he tomado la decisión de seguir a Jesucristo fielmente.”  Este testimonio me alegró sobremanera. Nuestro Señor Jesucristo dijo esto respecto al arrepentimiento de los pecadores: “Os digo que así habrá más gozo en el cielo por un picador que se arrepiente, que por novena y nueve justos que no necesitan de arrepentimiento” (Lucas 15:7).

También, este viaje me sirvió para mi crecimiento espiritual pues escuché una muy buena exposición del libro de Daniel y tuve muy amenos diálogos con el pastor Daniel Calle, quien expuso justamente el libro de Daniel, y Moisés Zumaeta, ambos de la ciudad de Lima.

Resalto el corazón y la labor misionera del pastor Latimer Rengifo y de los hermanos de la IBC de Tahuantinsuyo, quienes por ya varios años están ministrando el evangelio en el Departamento de Amazonas. En esta actividad misionera estuvieron sirviendo un buen grupo de ellos. Ruego a Dios que levante más pastores y más iglesias con visión, corazón y acción misionera.

En Enero fui invitado a enseñar en el campamento para pastores y misioneros que realizó en la Iglesia Bautista Betel de la ciudad de Paita. Me pidieron que enseñase sobre la misión que tenemos los cristianos de compartir el evangelio a toda criatura. Mi tema presentó el desafío de evangelizar cada día. También, lancé el reto de lograr que todos y cada uno de los creyentes se viesen a sí mismos como testigos de Cristo y proclamadores de las buenas nuevas de salvación.

Predicar y enseñar a los hombres que lideran iglesias es una gran responsabilidad. Los pastores y los misioneros siempre están predicando, enseñando y exhortando a otros, por eso, un campamento en el que ellos escuchan la palabra de Dios, es muy importante y de gran bendición. Los que tenemos la responsabilidad de predicar y enseñar en retiros pastorales necesitamos mucha sabiduría y empatía para ministrar a siervos de Dios.

Estoy contento que me usó entre sus siervos. Disfruté del compañerismo con ellos y de la palabra de Dios, que también obró en mi corazón. El predicador que Dios usó y que también participó trayéndonos la palabra de Dios, fue el pastor Carlos Flores, quien sirve como pastor en el Estado de Oregon, USA. El pastor Carlos Flores es un pastor joven y su ministerio entre nosotros nos desafío sobremanera.

En el retiro me reencontré con buenos amigos y las conversaciones con ellos alentaron mi alma y fortalecieron mi fe y mi determinación de servir fielmente a Cristo. Los servicios nocturnos fueron bien concurridos y las alabanzas a Dios edificaron mi corazón. Gloria a Dios por mi experiencia espiritual en Paita.

Mi gozo en Paita fue grande porque pude ver al pastor Elfer y a su familia, y a Silverio,  y a los hermanos de la Iglesia Bautista Betel de Paita. Ellos sostienen mi ministerio con sus oraciones y sus ofrendas y estoy muy agradecido a Dios por su amistad y compañerismo.

“Whatever happens, keep thanking God because of Jesus Christ. This is what God wants you to do”

(1 Thessalonians 5:18).

The text that I begin this note was written by the Apostle Paul to the brothers of Thessalonica in his first letter to them. His words reflect the will of God for Jesus’ disciples all time. I am a disciple of Jesus and I am included in the mandate to be grateful.

This December 31 ends a year for me and for all. In reviewing my personal, family life and ministry this year I find many reasons to be thankful. Therefore, in this note, I wish to express my gratitude in writing.

First. Thank God for His eternal salvation through Jesus Christ. I thank Him for giving me a wife and three children. I thank Him for His daily allowance for me and my family. I thank Him for His patience and for His mercy to me. I thank Him for giving me the undeserved privilege of serving in His church and in the world. Thank Him for supporting my ministry. I thank Him for His continued forgiveness and because He has given me new opportunities to rectify and improve my relationship with Him.

Second. Thanks to my wife and kids for being by my side when all is happy and in sad moments. I thank them for their appreciation and love to me as I am; and for their patience.

Third. Thanks to pastors and missionaries who give me the opportunity to serve preaching and teaching the Word of God in their congregations. It is a great privilege to support their ministries.

Fourth. Thanks to my friends and fellow servants who work alongside me in the ministry. Thank them for their appreciation and interest in my personal, family and ministry life. It is a great blessing to work with you.

Fifth. Thanks to my parents, who hosted me and my family at their house. Thanks to them for sharing with us not only their house, but many other things. Share and live with you is making me grow a lot.

Sixth. Thanks to those who pray or make offerings to support my family and ministry. I thank both those who are near and those who are far away. You play a vital role in my personal, family and ministry life.

My gratitude is generic because I do not want to mention to anyone that is a blessing to my life. Humans are dependent, not self-sufficient. We need God and we need other human beings.

God has designed our lives in such a way that gratitude to Him and others be always in our minds and in our hearts. The word thanks is a very deep word. Its meaning is enormous.

I want to finish this year and start next year thanking God and all of you who follow my personal, family and ministry life. God bless you!

“Dad gracias en todo,

porque esta es la voluntad de Dios

(1 Tesalonicenses 5:18).

El texto con el que empiezo esta nota fue escrito por el Apóstol Pablo a los hermanos de Tesalónica en su primera carta a ellos. Sus palabras reflejan la voluntad de Dios para los discípulos de Jesús de todos los tiempos. Soy un discípulos de Jesús y estoy incluido en el mandato de ser agradecido.

Este 31 de Diciembre termina un año más para mí y para todos. Al repasar mi vida personal, familiar y ministerial de este año encuentro muchos motivos para estar agradecido. Por eso, en esta nota, quiero expresar mi gratitud en forma escrita.

Primero. Gracias a Dios por su salvación eterna a través de Jesucristo. Le agradezco por haberme dado una esposa y tres hijos. Le agradezco por su provisión diaria para mi y mi familia. Le agradezco por su paciencia y por su misericordia para conmigo. Le agradezco por darme el privilegio inmerecido de servirle en su iglesia y en este mundo. Le agradezco por los que sostienen mi ministerio. Le agradezco por su perdón continuo y porque me ha dado nuevas oportunidades para rectificar y mejorar mi relación con él.

Segundo. Gracias a mi esposa y a mis hijos por estar a mi lado cuando todo es alegría y cuando hay momentos tristes. Les agradezco por amarme así como soy y tenerme paciencia. Ustedes estimulan mi vida y hacen que busque a Dios por sostenimiento y sabiduría.

Tercero. Gracias a los pastores y misioneros que me dan la oportunidad de servirles predicando y enseñando la palabra de Dios en sus congregaciones. Es un gran privilegio apoyar sus ministerios.

Cuarto. Gracias a mis amigos y consiervos que trabajan junto a mi en el ministerio. Gracias por su aprecio y su interés en mi vida personal, familiar y ministerial. Es una gran bendición trabajar junto a ustedes. Su amor por Cristo y su obra me llenan de ánimo, me contagian y me impulsan a seguir adelante en el servicio de nuestro Señor. Ustedes cumplen un rol crucial en mi vida personal, familiar y ministerial.

Quinto. Gracias a mis padres, que me hospedan a mi y a mi familia en su casa. Gracias a ellos por compartir con nosotros no solamente su casa, sino muchas otras cosas más. Compartir y vivir con ustedes me está haciendo crecer mucho.

Sexto. Gracias a los que oran u ofrendan para mi sostenimiento familiar y ministerial. Le doy gracias tanto a los que están cerca como a los que están lejos. Ustedes cumplen un rol trascendental en mi vida personal, familiar y ministerial. Siempre doy gracias a Dios por ustedes y por el aprecio que me tienen.

Mi gratitud es genérica porque no quiero dejar de mencionar a alguno que es una bendición a mi vida. Los seres humanos somos dependientes, no autosuficientes. Necesitamos de Dios y necesitamos también de otros seres humanos.

Dios ha diseñado nuestra vida de tal manera en la que la gratitud a él y a otros siempre esté en nuestra mente y en nuestro corazón. La palabra gracias es una palabra muy profunda. Su significado es enorme.

Yo quiero terminar este año y empezar el año que viene dando gracias a Dios por haberme hecho su hijo y a todos ustedes que siguen mi vida personal, familiar y ministerial. ¡Dios les bendiga!

Este mes me tocó viajar a la ciudad de Calca, Cusco. Fui para enseñar Métodos de Enseñanza a un grupo de hermanos quechua hablantes. Fue mi primera vez en esa ciudad. Disfuté con la hospitalidad de los hermanos de Calca. La alimentación fue deliciosa y muy nutritiva. Cada comida fue especial, pero resalto las sopas que tomé; estuvieron exquisitas.

El grupo de hermanos que estudiaron conmigo vinieron de los pueblos aledaños a Calca. La mayoría era quechua hablantes y tenían poca educación. Leían y escribían con dificultad, pero su ánimo por aprender la palabra de Dios me entusiasmó. Para enseñar a cualquier grupo de personas se necesita mucha paciencia, este grupo de hermanos no fue la excepción. Dios fue bueno conmigo y me dio un buen tiempo con este grupo de hermanos. Todos ellos eran sencillos, pero con un corazón enorme para Dios y su palabra. Oremos por ellos, que sigan fieles y que su crecimiento en el evangelio sea manifiesto en los lugares en los que viven.

Estudiamos desde las 7 de la mañana hasta las 6 de la tarde. Descansábamos de estudiar al momento de la alimentación. Cada día tuve 10 alumnos estudiando conmigo. Mi tiempo con ellos fue edificante. En especial, disfrutamos mucho cuando estudiamos la manera en la que nuestro Señor Jesucristo enseño mientras estuvo en la tierra.

En mi visita a Calca pude reencontrarme con el misionero Cristobal Churata, de Cusco; el pastor Enrique Hanco, de Calca; Porfirio Vargas, de Urubamba; y Florencio Churata y su familia. Todos ellos son amigos y compañeros en el ministerio desde que estuvieron en Trujillo. Fue bueno ver que siguen adelante en la obra de Jesucristo. Ruego sus oraciones por ellos, para que Dios los siga haciendo crecer en la gracia de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo.

Al retornar a Trujillo me esperaba la ceremonia de clausura del año académico en el Seminario Bautista del Perú. Tuvimos el privilegio de graduar a 7 estudiantes: 5 varones y 2 mujeres. Pido oración por ellos, que Dios los use grandemente en su obra de salvación.

Luego del viaje a Calca no he viajado más este mes. He tenido más tiempo para congregar en mi iglesia local. He podido predicar la palabra y dirigir algunos servicios. Es una bendición grande ser parte de una congregación en la que los hermanos oran y ofrendan para el ministerio.

Dear Brothers and Sisters
Greetings to you and your families. I pray God to continue to bless you in all your endeavors. Here is my report of my last trip to Requena and Iquitos: According to my schedule, on October 30-November 8 I traveled to the rainforest of Peru to serve two churches. In Iquitos I was at Maranatha Baptist Church, which is administered by Pastor Milton Zambrano. In Requena I was in Bethesda Baptist Church, which is led by Pastor Lucio Pinedo. In both churches we are training our brothers and sisters who want to grow in their spiritual life and better service to our Lord Jesus Christ.

At Maranatha Baptist Church: I was in Iquitos since October 31 to November 3. I taught from 4 pm to 9 pm from the day I arrived. In total, there were between 15-20 brothers in class. We studied Synthesis of the Old Testament. This was our first class in Iquitos. Lord willing, we will continue with more classes on February next year. If God gives us life, we hope they complete 10 courses of Bible Training Centre for Pastors and leaders. I have seen enthusiasm in the students, in Pastor Milton and siblings from Maranatha Baptist Church. This has encouraged me in this new project. Those who attended classes at the Maranatha Baptist also came from two other sister churches in Iquitos. For me, start a training center through modules in Iquitos was an ideal that until this year I could not perform. I ask your prayers for the ministry of training that we started in Iquitos. At Bethesda Baptist Church in Requena I was on November 4-7. In that city I am working in the training center since 2007. When we started the center had about 30 students in that group; 18 students completed the 10 courses of BTCP, most of them were pastors. The other study groups were not as large as the first group, but very irregular. In this last class I had 10 students. Most of them are not pastors, but brothers in Christ who want to grow in their spiritual life.

New goal in Requena. The Board of ABCDE in Requena and I talked about how we can serve in a better way to pastors and churches in Requena. After talking a while, we will embark on a new challenge. Let’s start conferences for growth and spiritual awakening. The lectures will be focused on brothers and sisters from churches in and around Requena. So far we have focused on pastors and church leaders; this time we will focus on people from churches. We want to encourage churches to spiritual growth and fulfillment of the Great Commission. Please pray for this new challenge. I always want to continue working in that part of Peru and that’s why I’m starting the conferences. Pray for us and for expositors who will participate in those conferences.

Four workers from Iquitos and Requena will be prepared in Trujillo. Along with revival conferences in Requena and the new training center in Iquitos, I thought it would be convenient for some key pastors from Requena and Iquitos to get more training at Baptist Seminary of Peru in Trujillo. At Baptist Seminary of Peru, on January and July, two weeks per month, there are courses for pastors and missionaries already in the work of God. Lord willing, on January 2015 they will go to Trujillo to study for two weeks. They are: Manuel Guevara and Medardo Chanchari (Requena); Milton Zambrano and Douglas Ferreyra (Iquitos).

Miltón and Douglas have already experienced classes in Trujillo. They have also been with me at a conference in Tarma city on November 17-21. I’ve seen them growing more in their faith in Christ precisely because of their coexistence with pastors and missionaries from churches of the coast and the mountains of Peru. Will we need more funding for the revival conferences project in Requena, and for the new training center in Iquitos, and for trip expenses of students from Iquitos and Requena to study at Trujillo Seminary? It might. Finally. In the last trip to Iquitos and Requena I went alone. This allowed us to save some money, which I will use to pay the tickets for four students from Requena and Iquitos to Trujillo. On this trip I had setbacks from the beginning. I missed my bus and I had to buy a new ticket. When I was in the fast boat returning on the Ucayali River, it almost stranded on the sand. I was a miracle that we did not flipped. God gave us a new chance to live to all who were in that boat. When I arrived at the airport, my flight had already left. Thankfully, the airline helped me and I could go home safely. God kept me on this trip and I have to move on. Thank you for your prayers on my behalf. Del 17 al 21 de Noviembre estuve en la ciudad de Tarma. Fui para participar en el Congreso de pastores y líderes que se realizaría en la Iglesia Bíblica Bautista de Tarma. Mi rol en dicho congreso era doble: tenía parte en la organización del congreso y tenía que enseñar el libro de Jonás. Nos reunimos cada día entre 50 a 60 pastores, misioneros y líderes. Vinieron pastores de distintas partes de Perú. Vinieron de Yurimaguas, Bagua Grande, Piura, Sullana, Trujillo, Cuzco, Puno, Lima y Huancayo.

Cada congreso que realizamos es una bendición y éste no fue la excepción. Dios nos bendijo, nos desafió y nos animó con su palabra. Tuvimos como uno de nuestros expositores a Raúl Torrejón, quien es un peruano que sirve como misionero en Bolivia. También estuvo exponiendo la palabra de Dios el pastor Hermes Irizarry, quien ministra en Patterson, Nueva Jersey, USA.

Las predicaciones y enseñanzas nos motivaron a servir a Jesús y a llevar su evangelio a muchas más personas en el Perú y el mundo. El énfasis estuvo en misiones internacionales. Los participantes mostraron su interés y su determinación en participar en la obra misionera a nivel internacional por medio de sus promesas de fe. En la conferencia se nos presentó a cuatro misioneros que están ministrando fuera del Perú y se nos desafió a apoyarlos fielmente con oración y ofrendas.

Para mí, fue un gran reto exponer el libro de Jonás. Expusé a Jonás como un siervo de Dios que no era misericordioso ni compasivo con aquellos a los que le tocó ministrar. Apliqué la enseñanza a nosotros, los que hoy somos los siervos y los mensajeros de Dios. Durante mi clase di participación al auditorio y sus preguntas y comentarios fueron de mucho provecho. Jonás es un siervo de Dios que no se conformó al carácter misericordioso de Dios y por eso ministró con amargura y resentimiento.

Los predicadores de Dios en ninguna manera debemos imitar a Jonás. Nosotros estamos llamados a servir a Dios de buena voluntad y contentamiento. Nosotros estamos llamados a anunciar el mensaje de salvación por medio de Jesucristo y la misericordia y compasión para todos los no creyentes son vitales y necesarias.

El tiempo que pasé en Tarma junto a amigos y compañeros en el ministerio me edificó y me animó sobremanera. Mis fuerzas y mi entusiasmo por servir al Señor Jesucristo predicando su evangelio a los no creyentes y edificando con su palabra a los que son sus hijos se han incrementado. Gracias a Dios por el gozo de la salvación y por el privilegio inmerecido de ser su mensajero.

As is usual for several years now, I went to Requena to teach the Word of God to leaders and people from churches who are studying with us. My traveling companion on this occasion was Pastor Vailete Velasquez. It was for him his first time in this part of Peru. Pastor Velasquez taught “How to Evangelize” and I taught “Synthesis of the Old Testament”. He had 6 students; I had 13. Those brothers have interest in studying the word of God, which encouraged us and challenge us to continue the ministry of training in that area. At evenings, we had preaching services at Bethesda Baptist Church. The preacher was Pastor Velasquez. We stayed 4 days in Requena.

The spiritual need in and around Requena is great. There is lack Bible training. Most of those leaders have little instruction, but they are doing the work of God and lead churches enthusiastically. We shared the gospel on our way to Requena and coming back; we presented tracts on the bus, on the road and on the boat. The people heard with interest and received and read the tracts we passed to them. We trust that God will use this effort to do His work. I ask your prayers for the pastors and churches in and around Requena. The work of God in these places are about 50 years old. God willing, we will continue going to help our brothers there. Pray for us that God will continue to provide what we need to go to that area of Peru.

On September 11-15 for the first time I traveled to the villages of Cochaz an Colpaz in the mountains of La Libertad Departament. In these two villages there are churches of our Lord Jesus Christ. Brothers from Huaral Baptist Church are those who preached the gospel in that area. The churches of both villages are one year old. I went to preach at the special anniversary services. I traveled accompanied by brother Carlos Amaya, who came from Huaral. My time in both towns was a great blessing to me. I was struck by the interest of the brothers by the word of God and how they praise the Lord with songs. Those who participated in the services had to walk several hours. During the services there were brothers who made decisions of consecration. Also, there were some who expressed interest in preparing to serve God in his work. The greatest need in both villages are men willing to serve and trained to do so. Both, Colpas and Cochaz are lack of male leadership. Both churches are led by two faithful sisters. Men are not in charge of the work. I ask your prayers for these two churches in that area of Peru. Pray that God will raise up men who are believers, to assume their leadership role. Pray also for opportunities there to train the brothers who want to be trained.

On September 23-29, I traveled to Lima to preach at two churches: Independence Baptist Church and Tahuantinsuyo Baptist Church. At both churches I taught on the Family. My presentation was focused on the marital relationship. Praise the Lord, in this trip I went with my wife and two of my children: Andrew and Elena. My third son was not with us because he traveled to Sullana with a group of Baptist Seminary of Peru. At Independence Baptist Church I met Marco Flores, who is a deacon in charge of the Church. Marco Flores and his family were very hospitable and kind to us. For some hours in the morning and afternoon, Marco and I visited some families of the church. I taught on Family during evenings. The church members gave their time to listen to what God says in His Word regarding the marital relationship. After each presentation we had a time for questions and answers. I spent a nice time reviewing this issue with my brothers of this congregation. I ask your prayers for Marco Flores and his family. I also ask for prayers for Independence Baptist. The church currently has no pastor. Both Marco and the Church need our intercession. Help them with our prayers.
After Independence Baptist, I went to the Tahuantinsuyo Baptist Church. All day Sunday I was with them. Here I also taught in summary form the same biblical principles about the family that I shared in Independence Baptist. While exposing the biblical principle of raising our children using the Word of God, I was politely interrupted by a young girl who was hearing the message. She interrupted because the congregation had laughed when I explained and illustrated in this time parents had to teach rather emphatically from Genesis to their children, that God created man and woman and that was not ambiguous genre. She remarked that because she thought that we were making fun of homosexuals. That interruption was propitious to explain to the congregation that we should not mock these men and that the gospel of Christ also had the power to transform and forgive them if they repent and exercise faith in Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 was vital to address the observation of the young girl while I was preaching. In Tahuantisuyo I spent a nice time. There are siblings with whom I have good friendship and enjoyed seeing them again. I am grateful to God for the privilege of serving sharing His word.

October was a special month because it came to Peru Pastor Gabriel Gomez, who is pastor of Gethsemane Evangelical Church, Montevideo, Uruguay. I know Gabriel thank my two visits to Uruguay. He is associated with the Evangelical Mission of Uruguay. My friendship with Gabriel grew thanks to his visit. Pastor Gabriel came to preach and teach the Word of God in the Baptist Seminary of Peru and other Baptist churches in Peru. He was in Peru from October 18 to November 3. During that time he preached and taught on the anniversary of the Baptist Seminary of Peru and the following BaptistChurches in Trujillo: La Esperanza, Ebenezer, Bethel, Philadelphia and Bethlehem. He also preached at Bethel in Poroto. He also preached Adonai Baptist Church in Piura, Jesus the Good Shepherd in Sullana, Bethel in Paita. He ended his ministry preaching at Good News Baptist Church, First Baptist Church, and a Church for deaf people in Chiclayo. In Chichayo he also visited and ministered in the rehabilitation center that directs the Missionary Juan Maco. When I was in Uruguay, Pastor Gabriel was very friendly and hospitable to me and my family. Now it was my turn to be his host. I had the pleasure of accompanying him when he went to preach in Piura, Sullana and Paita. I was an eyewitness to his ministry and enjoyed his teachings. It was a great blessing to minister alongside this servant of God. I know from his own mouth, that this trip has been a blessing for him. I thank God for the pastors who shared the pulpit with Pastor Gabriel. Thank you very much, brethren, have been a blessing for him and for me. I end this note requesting your prayers for Pastor Gabriel, his family and his ministry. Minister in Uruguay is not easy. There’s a lot indifference to the Word of God. Our prayers help our brother and our brothers in that country.

On October, 19 to 25, at the Baptist Seminary of Peru, we celebrate another year of ministry. If we count each year of ministry, we have until today 43 years preparing workers for the work of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. By the grace of God, since 1972, which was the year we began to prepare workers, more than 800 male and female students have passed through our classrooms. Our ministry has positively impacted the independent Baptist work in Peru and other countries. In Peru we have pastors and missionaries who have graduated from our institution and who are serving in churches of Tacna, Ica, Cusco, Puno, Lima, Huancayo, Huaraz, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Cajamarca, Amazonas, San Martin, Ucayali, Loreto and Tumbes. Out of Peru, we have graduates who are now pastors and missionaries in Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela and the United States. Right now, by the grace we have students from Ecuador, Argentina and Uruguay. To celebrate our anniversary, our speakers were Pastor Gabriel Gomez (Uruguay), Franco Loyola (Ecuador) and Jeremy Estrema (USA). The expositions were focused on ministerial strengthen and deepen ties in order to fulfill the Great Commission. Each exposition was a great challenge for all who were present. During our anniversary, we also had Applicant Week, which is an event for young men and women who are interested in studying at our Seminary. They come to our campus for a week and participate in our activities as if they were students. By the grace of God, this year we had 20 applicants. We ask your prayers for them that next year all or most of them are studying and preparing here to serve our Lord. As is customary, during that week we made the Anniversary Great Banquet. On this occasion, participated in the Banquet over 570 people. Add to that the fact that every evening we had no less than 200 people in attendance to special meetings. We give glory to God for the appreciation that many people have to our ministry.

Del 30 de Octubre a 8 Noviembre viajé a la selva de Perú para servir a dos iglesias. En Iquitos estuve en la Iglesia Bautista Maranatha, que es administrada por el pastor Milton Zambrano. En Requena estuve en la Iglesia Bautista Betesda, que es dirigida por el pastor Lucio Pinedo. En ambas iglesias estamos entrenando a los hermanos y hermanas que quieren crecer en su vida espiritual y servir mejor a nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

En la IB Maranatha de Iquitos estuve desde el 31 de Octubre hasta el 3 de Noviembre. Enseñé desde las 4 de la tarde hasta las 9 de la noche desde el día que llegué. En total, hubieron entre 15 a 20 hermanos en las clases. Estudiamos Síntesis del Antiguo Testamento. Esta fue nuestra primera clase en Iquitos. Dios mediante, continuaremos con las clases en el mes de Febrero del próximo año. Si Dios nos da vida y así lo permite, esperamos completar con ellos los 10 cursos del Centro de Capacitación Bíblica para pastores y líderes. He visto entusiasmo de parte de los alumnos, del pastor Milton y de los hermanos de la IB Maranatha. Este hecho me ha animado mucho en este nuevo proyecto. Los que participaron en las clases en la IB Maranatha vinieron también de otras dos iglesias de Iquitos. Para mí, empezar un centro de entrenamiento por medio de módulos en Iquitos ha sido un ideal que hasta este año no he podido realizar. Les ruego sus oraciones a favor del ministerio de entrenamiento que hemos empezado en Iquitos. Rueguen al Señor que ninguno de los que estamos apoyando este ministerio desmayemos. Gracias por su ayuda en oración.

En IB Betesda de Requena estuve desde el 4 hasta el 7 de Noviembre. En esa ciudad participo en un centro de entrenamiento desde el año 2007. Cuando iniciamos el centro tuvimos unos 30 alumnos, de ese grupo, terminaron los 10 cursos de CCBP 18 alumnos, la mayoría de ellos eran pastores. Los demás grupos de estudios no fueron tan grandes, pero sí muy irregulares. En esta última clase tuve 10 alumnos. La mayoría de ellos no son pastores, sino hermanos en Cristo que quieren crecer en su vida espiritual.
He tomado la decisión de replantear el trabajo que estoy realizando en Requena. He hablado con los varones que me ayudan allá con el fin de involucrarlos en un nuevo desafío. Gracias a Dios, estos varones están dispuestos a ayudar en este nuevo desafío. Queremos empezar allá conferencias de crecimiento espiritual. Las conferencias estarán dirigidas a los hermanos y hermanos de las iglesias de Requena y alrededores.
Hasta ahora nos hemos enfocado en los pastores y líderes de las iglesias, esta vez nos enfocaremos en los hermanos en los miembros de las iglesias. Queremos motivar a las iglesias para involucrarlas en el creciemiento espiritual y en el cumplimiento de la gran comisión. Pido sus oraciones por este nuevo desafío. Siempre quiero seguir trabajando en esa parte del Perú y es por eso que estoy iniciando las conferencias. Rueguen por nosotros y por los expositores que participarán en las conferencias.
A este viaje a Iquitos y Requena fui solo. Tuve contratiempos en el viaje desde el principio. Perdí mi bus y tuve que comprar un nuevo ticket. Cuando estuve de retorno en el rápido por el río Ucayali, el rápido casi encalla en la arena. Fui un milagro que no volteásemos. Dios nos dio una nueva oportunidad para vivir a todos los que estuvimos en esa embarcación. Cuando llegué al aeropuerto, mi vuelo ya había salido. Gracias a Dios, la aerolínea me ayudó y pude regresar a mi casa sin novedad. Dios me guardó en este viaje y creo que tengo que seguir adelante.

En Octubre, del 19 al 25, en el Seminario Bautista del Perú, celebramos un año más de ministerio. Si contamos cada año de ministerio, tenemos hasta hoy 43 años preparando obreros para la obra de extender el evangelio de Jesucristo. Por la gracia de Dios, desde el año 1972, que fue el año en que empezamos a preparar obreros, por nuestras aulas han pasado más de 800 estudiantes, entre hombres y mujeres.
Nuestro ministerio ha impactado positivamente la obra bautista independiente en Perú y otros países. En Perú tenemos pastores y misioneros que se han graduado en nuestra institución y que están sirviendo en iglesias de Tacna, Ica, Cusco, Puno, Lima, Huancayo, Huaraz, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Cajamarca, Amazonas, San Martín, Ucayali, Loreto y Tumbes. Fuera del Perú, tenemos graduados que hoy son pastores y misioneros en Ecuador, Venezuela y Estados Unidos. Ahora mismo, por la gracia tenemos estudiantes de Ecuador, Argentina y Uruguay.
Para celebrar nuestro aniversario, tuvimos la visita del pastor Gabriel Gomez (Uruguay), Franco Loyola (Ecuador) y Jeremy Extema (USA). Las exposiciones estuvieron enfocadas en Fortalecer y estrechar los vinculos ministeriales con el fin de cumplir con la Gran Comisión. Cada exposición fue de gran desafío para todos los que estuvimos presented.
Durante nuestro aniversario, tuvimos también la Semana del Aspirante, que es un acontecimiento en el que los jóvenes y señoritas que tienen interés en estudiar en el seminario, vienen a nuestro campus y durante una semana participan en nuestras actividades como si fuesen estudiantes. Por la gracia de Dios, este año tuvimos 20 aspirantes. Pedimos sus oraciones por ellos para que el otro año todos o la mayoría de ellos estén estudiando y preparándose para servir a nuestro Señor.
Como es ya una costumbre, durante la semana realizamos el Gran Banquete de aniversario. En esta ocasión, participaron en el banquete más de 470 personas. A esto se suma el hecho de que cada noche tuvimos una asistencia no menor de 200 personas en los servicios especiales. Damos gloria a Dios por el aprecio que los hermanos le tienen a nuestro ministerio.
